February 2022 meeting

February 2022 meeting

Well, we are now two months into the new year, and hopefully within another 6 weeks or so, back in to riding season! This month's meeting was a big one. Lots of info this month! To recap:

First and foremost, our heartfelt condolences to Josef Tocci, who lost his mom Dani last month. This is hard for many of us, as she was more than a chapter member; she was a friend and family member. We will be having a Celebration of Life for her at the Eagles club later this month; an email regarding this will be sent out. Josef, if you need ANYTHING, reach out to one of us. We are all family.

Second, we had the MA/RI delegate for the Iron Adventure Rally, Dave McCallom, speak this morning. He addressed some of the questions around lodging, rides, activities, and even the current restaurant situation in VT. He stated, specifically, that they are working with local delis to try and make brown bag lunches, delivered the night before, for anyone who would like one. There will be guided rides, self guided rides, music, and on Saturday, a block party at the shopping plaza near the mountain itself. All in all, this is shaping up to be a fun time. Point of note: if you want to book a reservation at Jackson Gore, CALL THEM. Their website is NOT working. Tell them that you are booking for the Iron Adventure.

Third up, I mentioned a class regarding incident scene management for safety officers/road captains. This will be an all day class, from 8-4, on Saturday, April 2, at the Eagles. Lunch will be provided by us (pizza). The initial cost for each participant is $85, but the chapter will be picking up both lunch AND paying for half the class, so it will ultimately cost each member $40 for the class. The class will include basic first aid, as well as documentation needed in the event of an accident. We were limited to 10 members, which we decided would be the safety officers and road captains. The list is full, and the participants are as follows:

Jeff Boulay

Bill Reed

Shawn Sadowski

Dan Dean

Dwayne Stimson

Matt Robinson

Joey Armenti

George Wedge

Dana Balthazar

Miguel Ramos

I will reach out to each member. The $40 will be payable to the chapter, and we will make one payment for the class. At the completion of the course, each participant will recieve a patch and certificate of training.

Last up, we took a poll on chapter rides for this year. Dana put together a list of possible rides, and, at the meeting, we each selected 5 that we would like to do. The list is as follows (in no particular order):

Bentley's

Cape Cod

Mt Greylock

Battleship Cove

Seven Covered Bridges

We will be putting together these rides over the next few weeks. We would like to see different people lead each ride-so, if you would like to lead one, please reach out to us.

Thats all I have for this week! We will be in touch regarding Dani's celebration of life. We have a few other events planned over this year, and will be firming them up over the next couple months as well. The Memorial Ride, our Ribbon Ride, and we would like to bring back the cornhole tournament this fall as well.

Stay safe, stay warm, and we will see you all in March!!
